The auctions are for items including used motor vehicles, tyres, batteries, rims, furniture, seats, and scrap metal.

State House and the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) are planning public auctions to get rid of old and unserviceable items.

A notice issued on Tuesday stated that a State House public auction had been scheduled for June 14, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the State Department for Roads in Ruiru.

"The Executive Office of the President intends to sell by public auction unserviceable motor vehicles, tyres, car batteries, rims, and assorted items," read the notice.

Prospective bidders must pay a refundable Sh50,000 deposit at the cash office of the Executive Office of the President at the State House in Nairobi.

The deposit, as explained in the notice, will ensure the bidder's participation in the auction and will be refunded should they not win any bids.

"Interested bidders may obtain further information by visiting www.tenders.go.ke and www.president.go.ke," read the notice.

The KAA intends to auction items including used furniture, seats, scrap metal, old fire extinguisher cylinders, general electro-mechanical parts, building hardware, and used cars

"The items will be available for viewing from May 29 to May 31, with the auction taking place from June 3 to June 10," reads the notice.

All interested buyers must pay a deposit of Sh25,000 per lot or item on auction, and other details are in the catalogue available at www.kaa.go.ke/corporate/procurement/tenders.

The auction will take place at locations including the KAA headquarters, the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Wilson Airport, the Kabunde Airstrip, the Kakamega Airstrip, and Moi International Airport.

Others are the Malindi Airport, the Ukunda Airstrip, the Wajir Airport, the Kisumu International Airport, and the Lokichoggio Airport.
